Illustrator CC Classroom In A Book [ Release] by Brian Wood | Adobe Education Exchange.Adobe InDesign CC Classroom in a Book (2015 release)
The real frustration, however, comes at the end of the book. Chapter 17 is supposed to be a download from the Peachpit site, along with the lesson files, but despite registering the lesson code and the ISBN number, the text for the lesson is nowhere to be found.
I suspect that if you were to buy from the Peachpit site, you would not have this problem, but it is extremely annoying to have followed all these lessons religiously and then be denied the final lesson. C'mon, Adobe and Peachpit. My version, at least, was electronic. Just put it in the book. Please see my update in Comments. This book has none of those problems. I've completed the first two chapters through page 51 of the Kindle edition using the downloaded samples with no glitches, hang-ups, mysteries or failed instructions.
Nothing fancy. It just works. I got this book so that I would understand InDesign and not improvise my actions while I work on projects. I want to work smart, not hard. This book gives a great overview of the software, but I'm not sure how well it prepares a person for the Adobe Expert certification exam. But the book is well written, and straightforward. This is a very good book to learn InDesign.
Two points I would make, however: 1 It greatly helps to have some experience with other Adobe programs to be familiar with layers, panels, etc. If you were to simply read through the lesson and do the examples once as you read along, it may be accurate, but in order to really get it, explore the tools in more detail and understand the material, it does take longer.
Do not expect to learn InDesign in one week. Use the book as a companion to other sources. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I found the book was quite well written, and after reading it I felt like I'd be able to use the software without too many difficulties. However, when I got InDesign on my computer I found that I could not import any of my Word files into it - only one page imported in. Using the Shift key 10 pages imported in at the most, out of several hundred pages.
I then learned that you probably need a plug-in to import files into InDesign and this costs a lot of money to buy and no one really knows what the answer is. In the end I had to abandon the project. Pity the software did not hold as much promise as the manuel on how to use it. Report abuse. I am very new to Indesign and am working my through the lessons. They are very easy to follow with good clear instructions. Do not hesitate to invest your money and time by buying and reading this invaluable publication.
